I looked into this issue a little more and I think the version of openal nix reads from in say a steam-run only supports 64 bit and not 32 bit, hence the wrong ELF class. Seems hard to fix…

Appimage does not launch on NixOS

Well this is odd, I've been able to force the LD_LIBRARY_PATH to acknowledge the path to libopenal.so.1, but now I'm getting a "wrong ELF class" error.
